Reading Luke 1:67-80
The heart cry of man since his removal from Eden has been for deliverance from the bondage of Satan and self. He has made idols, invented religions and sought release through every cunningly devised plan his mind can conceive. Yet, branded at the very core of his being is the word GUILTY.
“O unhappy and pitiable and wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God – He will! through Jesus Christ, the Annointed One, our Lord.” Rom. 7 24-25
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Zachariah revealed Christ came to: bring deliverance and redemption (Col.1:13-14); free mankind for service to God (Rom.6:22); show mercy, compassion and kindness (Psm. 111:4); carry out the covenant made to Abraham (Heb. 13:4); deliver man from the hand of his foes – both physical and spiritual (2Cor. 1:10); give light to those in spiritual darkness (Ex.5:14) and bring peace (Jn 14:27).
Rx: Ask Jesus to minister to you in each of the above categories. He is preparing you for eternity in His kingdom. Your heavenly Father loves you so much he wants to have unhindered fellowship with you. Christ came to restore this beautiful relationship. Freed from guilt and condemnation, you will be able to serve the King fearlessly regardless of persecution, tradition or self. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed!
