How Simeon loved the Lord! He found it a joy to worship his God and live a holy life. Because of this, God shared a mystery with him. He would not die until he had seen the Messiah for himself. Imagine wakening every morning wondering if it would be today God’s promise would be fulfilled. Simeon was an old man with probably the same afflictions all old people suffer, but he did not dwell on thoughts of death but of LIFE, God’s life.

Because Simeon had shared life with his God, he knew he would share death with him. He anticipated going to Abraham’s bosom. He had no fear of the hereafter.

As a Christian, we should have no fear of death. “Since we, God’s children, are human beings- made of flesh and blood-Jesus became flesh and blood, too…..for only as a human being could He die and in dying break the power of the devil who had the power of death.” Heb.2:14
